Coaching vs Consulting

“In a nutshell, consulting hands clients the answers. . .”

“When you hire a consultant, he comes in, looks at your watch, and tells you what time it is." If you don't know how to tell time, then that service is valuable.

What seems as simple as reading a watch to a consultant can be absolute Greek to the business owner. That's consulting. . .”

So what is coaching?

Coaching has two parts:

  1. New Awareness or Learning and
  2. Implementing the New Awareness or Learning.

The power in coaching lies in the relationship between the coach and the client, the coaching relationship.

Sometimes it's a gentle tug-of-war wherein the coach pushes the client out of his / her comfort zone to achieve more.”
